Telangana to have above normal temperatures

Hyderabad: Temperatures in Hyderabad and Telangana are rising to be above normal, giving a hard time to toddlers and elders especially. The weather departments are repeatedly raising alarms for citizens to stay indoors.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has published an extended-range forecast predicting that Telangana would see above-normal temperatures, with a strong possibility of heatwave conditions continuing into May. The IMD forecast indicates that small pockets in Telangana may experience scorching conditions on most days leading up to Monday.

The period from May 2 to 8 has been designated as having a moderate likelihood of heatwave occurrences in isolated or localized pockets across the state. According to IMD estimates, Telangana will see dry weather until the first week of May.

This forecast comes after Telangana had a second heat wave on April 18 and 19, with isolated reports of hailstorms in some regions on April 20 and 23. Additionally, Friday was the hottest day of the season thus far.

Temperatures have risen to historic levels across the state. Temperatures in the areas soared beyond 45 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in the state capital approached 44 degrees Celsius.

The scorching heat spared no place in Telangana, with numerous areas experiencing record daytime temperatures. Jammikunta in Karimnagar district topped out at 45.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Nidamanoor in Nalgonda and Manthani in Peddapalli, both at 45.2 degrees Celsius.
